2024 Designathon Recap
Our Voice as Light (OVAL) and The Innovation & Design Thinking Academy (TIDA) are thrilled to have hosted the Innovate for Impact Designathon 2024, a highly anticipated three-day event that empowered young minds across Ibadan, Nigeria to tackle some of the most pressing health-related challenges facing their communities.
From September 6 to 8, 2024, 20 young individuals gathered in Ibadan to co-create innovative and sustainable advocacy programs focused on addressing major health problems. This year’s designathon focused on climate health, gender-based violence, sexual and reproductive health, and mental health, all critical areas of Sustainable Development Goal 3 (SDG 3).
This designathon phase of this program prioritized collaboration over competition, ensuring that each team left with actionable advocacy plans ready for implementation at the grassroots level. Participants gained valuable experience in design thinking, team collaboration, and prototyping, while being guided by experienced mentors and facilitators throughout the event.
